Today Is Different

Less than 24hrs til the first game of the World Cup 2010 begins. I am too excited to do anything else. I will be up in arms cheering for every team. I wish I could be in South Africa for this very moment. But alas, I will be in Austin, Tx watching it on TV. Not a bad thing, just not where I would love to be. With this World Cup, the first in Africa, several players and politicians would like to see and end to racism and segregation. With such a global sport being played in a country where apartheid was very evident for so long, and having 32 countries of various races and backgrounds all here at the same time. This should be a stone that could be stepped upon to take larger steps to end racism. I hope that is possible. If it does happen, wow, what a stage to happen on and that surely would have this World Cup be the greatest of all to date. Not because of the games, which promise to be electric, but because of the movements that happened. That is my wish. That and that either Spain or the Netherlands win the World Cup.
